Jurassic Park 4 "Put On Hold"
With the recent re-release of Jurassic Park in IMAX 3D (which was amazing by the way) many of us were looking forward to seeing the next chapter of this massive franchise. Fantastic young filmmaker Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed, side note if you haven't seen Safety Not Guaranteed go rent it now) was hired to direct and with a script by the writers of Rise of the Planet of the Apes all the pieces seemed to be falling into place. To a certain extent they still are, but instead of getting the new movie a year from now Universal has put the movie 'on hold'. Below is Universal's press release:
"In coordination with filmmakers, Universal has decided to release Jurassic Park 4 at a later date giving the studio and filmmakers adequate time to bring audiences the best possible version of the fourth installment in Universal’s beloved franchise. We could not be more excited about the vision that Colin Trevorrow has created for this film, and we look forward to watching as he and the producers create another great chapter in this franchise's storied history."
This isn't all bad news according to The Hollywood Reporter's Borys Kit he took to twitter with this update "#JP4 reason for delay: studio got a draft of the script...2 days ago. Way more epic and ambitious than they were prepared for." Apparently Mr. Trevorrow and his writing partner took the script and re-worked it and, believe it or not, Universal is actually going to give Trevorrow more time to make the film. Personally I'm all in favor of not rushing the project. If releasing this movie at a later date gives us a better movie then I think we can all wait.
