Welcome back Movie Hivers. It's been a busy week around the office so things are a little sparse in this weeks Hive, but there is still some good stuff to get to. Three new movies are opening including Bryan Singers take on Jack and the Beanstalk and Harry Potter's Emma Watson may slip into some glass slippers soon.
Emma Watson to Play Cinderella?
With the success of Disney's live acion tale of Alice in Wonderland they've been anxious to get more of their collection of fairy tales to the big screen. We'll see the first attempt by Disney to replicate that success with this month's Oz The Great and Powerful and then followed by the Sleeping Beauty inspired film Maleficent with Angelina Jolie later this year. Another project in the works is a new interpretation of Cinderella and according to Variety it looks as if Disney would like Emma Watson (the Harry Potter series) to don the glass slippers. The actress is reportedly in early talks to star in the Kenneth Branagh (Thor) directed progect. Cate Blanchett is also set to star as Cinderella's evil stepmother and Disney hopes to begin shooting in London soon to make a summer/fall 2014 release.
